Job Summary and Requirements

Denison University. The Department of Education and the Black Studies Program invite applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2018. Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education is required. Ability to teach in both an interdisciplinary Black Studies Program and an Education curriculum is required. Demonstrated ability to teach and advise students at the undergraduate level in a liberal arts context is expected. We seek candidates whose work focuses on curriculum and instruction, social justice in education, and pedagogical expertise in examining the experiences of African-Americans in U.S. education as required areas of specialization. Specialties may also be within one or more of the following areas: culturally relevant pedagogies, multicultural education, urban education, quantitative methodologies, STEM fields. Experience teaching in a public elementary, middle, or high school is desirable. The mentoring and guiding of the faculty member through contract renewal and the tenure process will be managed by a committee of faculty from the Department and Program. The candidate will teach a 3/2 course load of five courses per academic year. The course distribution is normally distributed equally between Black Studies and Education.
